Dear Austin, I'm home

Oh. My. Word! I am exhausted! After six days in Boston and three days in California, I am back home to Austin. The weather here has cooled off a teeny bit (it's not over 100º today!), and I'm thankful to be able to sleep in my own bed and use my own bathroom. Fact about me: I hate using bathrooms that are not my own.

Per everyone's suggestions, I went to The Garment District and Poor Little Rich Girl (both locations). I had so much fun browsing, but I must have been having an off week, because I didn't find anything to bring home at those stores. I did, however, find a Mexican house dress and two skirts at Second Time Around on Newbury Street and a to-die for ring at Modern Millie in Salem. I found shoes for the wedding at a DSW-like store called Off Broadway Shoes in Danvers.

Boston shopping

Huge thanks to Hubs' mom Mary and her husband Tim for mapping out my retail expeditions and having oodles and oodles of patience while I shopped 'till I dropped!

The plane ride from Boston to Oakland was BRUTAL, but I did catch a Project Runway marathon on Jet Blue's Direct TV. The flight was was 6.5 hours, and I did not feel like wearing a dress. I wanted warmth and comfort to the max. Again, I'm pretty sure this resulted in me looking like a 4th grade boy, but man, oh, man was I comfortable!

Despite feeling like I was on the plane for HALF OF MY LIFE, it was totally worth it because I got to see my one of my best guy friends get married to a wonderful girl:

Lucas Getting Married

And I was reunited with Mel and Bee, two of my very best friends:

The Smallman tweeted a conversation he overheard between Hubs and me at the reception:

Me: We should get married again. This is fun!
Hubs: I think it's a one per customer kind of thing.

Congrats, Lucas and Vanessa! California, I miss you already, but I'm sure I'll see you again real soon.
