Dots, not feathers

Every year, my dear friends Todd and Jaime have an amazing joint birthday party. This year, they had a Bollywood Birthday. I didn't have time to run out and get a sari, but I had this thrifted tunic hanging out in my closet, so I just wore that:

Date: 22 January 2011 | occasion: Bollywood Birthday
tunic: thrifted via Savers | jeggings: DKNY c/o Marshalls | flats: Target

Todd and Jaime went all out for their birthday celebration, even hiring Nisha, owner of Henna Arts, to do henna tattoos for all the guests. I always thought henna tattoos were done with a stencil, so I was pleasantly surprised to see Nisha freehanding all our beautiful artwork.

indiOf course I got an animal. Can you see it? It's a peacock! I've always wanted a henna tattoo and felt a little like a cake being decorated while Nisha painted me pretty. A day later, the brown puffy paint fell off and my beautiful little bird looks like this (upside down):

He'll be here for a couple weeks, which is perfect for me. I've never been able to commit to the idea of a real tattoo.
