My dad wardrobe staples // Hanes ComfortBlend t-shirts

Do you remember when we tried the Year of the Man Makeover? I've been half joking that we should give the year of the man makeover another go because believe it or not, I've found that I miss those mornings when I didn't have to think about what to wear because my wife had chosen my clothes for me the night before. When she asked me if I was interested in doing a style post for Hanes, I thought perhaps that could kickstart another attempt at a year of man makeovers. Hanes sent me some crew neck ComfortBlend t-shirts and gave me free reign to show off my own personal style:

I had today off, so I got to spend the entire day with the kids. We took advantage of the warm weather and met up with friends at a local park to feed the ducks.
A casual outing like this calls for comfort, but meeting friends means I need to look put together.

Left to my own devices prior to meeting my wife, I would have schlepped to the park in zip-off cargo shorts and whichever oversized, free promotional t-shirt I grabbed from the clean pile in my closet. Baseball cap, gym shoes, tall socks, and done. But I'm learning. This is how I do weekend casual now that I'm married and grown up:

date: 17 Feb 2014 | occasion: park with kids
jeans: Levis 514 | tee: Hanes ComfortBlend t-shirt | boots: c/o Minnetonka

What I like about these shirts is that they're soft, comfortable, and under $5 each at Walmart. I think I'll even be able to wear the darker navy one to work with khaki jeans on a Friday. Adult me likes how flattering these t-shirts are, while younger me, on a college student budget, digs how affordable these are. Good for dads, but also good for any dude. These come in sizes S- 3x and in seven different colors including the three I got- Caribbean blue heather, navy heather, and vermillion orange, as well as chili pepper natural heather (red), medium green heather, ebony (black), and oxford grey. I may still be budget conscious and prefer t-shirts to button downs, but my wife is totally on-board with these, which pleases us both.

I think once she has this baby we should start up another year of the man makeover. It may be a bit easier this go around since I'm not opposed to looking put together anymore.
