Review and interview with Epiphanie Bags

No doubt you've been admiring my Epiphanie bag in the post below and on the Delightful Dozen blog. Without a doubt, it is the most beautiful camera bag in the entire world. I love it, and I feel like it was a complete necessity during the madness of the TxSCC and SXSW. After being displeased with the quality of the other camera bag I bought, I returned it. Per the recommendation of a couple of you, I checked out Texas-based Epiphanie Bags and found the bag of my dreams. Everyone, meet the Epiphanie Clover bag:

Right off the bat, let's talk about the hefty price tag; yes, I recognize that $184 is nothing to sneeze at.

However, here's how I figure it, like my expensive diaper bag, this is going to be a bag that I use every single day for years and years. Not only does it hold all of my camera gear, but it also holds my laptop (and I'm buying a new laptop soon!). The inside of the bag is completely reconfigurable, so no matter what your equipment it can stay nice and cozy and safe in the bag. I am willing to pay more money for products that are both durable and fashionable. This camera bag will last me longer than my camera, I'm sure!

Maile Wilson, photographer and the designer and owner of Epiphanie was kind enough to do a fun, little interview with me. I love learning more about the people behind the products I love, and I hope you do, too:

Q: How did you come up with such an awesome idea for fashionable camera bags?
A: I love to bring my camera with me everywhere, but it was such a hassle to lug around an extra bulky camera bag. When I went online to find something cute, I realized that didn't exist. So I decided it was time to create a bag that was as stylish as it was functional.

Q: What kind of equipment do you shoot on?
A: Canon, although I have nothing against Nikon. I've just always used Canon.

Q: Which of the bags (style and color) do you think best represents you, Maile?
A: Red Lola for sure.

Q: What is one of your favorite photos that you've taken?
A: This was one of my favorite photo sessions because it wasn't planned. I just snapped photos as we were hanging out, so the result was uncontrived and natural.

Q: Describe the worst photo of yourself from your childhood:
A: Hmm, there are so many to choose from. Here are two runner-ups for worst:
1. d-to-the-ork:

or
2. senior picture

Q: If you could go back in time and give anyone an Epiphanie bag, who would it be?
A: My Grandma, because she was always so passionate about business and I know she would have carried it with her everywhere.

Q: What is a current trend in photography that you're not too keen on?
A: I know my fellow Texans are going to kill me, but I'm over the [newborn wearing] tutu thing. I'm also over placing newborns onto foreign objects like dinner platters, or bookshelves.

Q: What is a current trend in fashion that you're way into?
A; High-waisted flare jeans!

Q: Why do fashion bloggers need cuter camera bags?
Because owning a camera or laptop shouldn't mandate that you have to carry around a bulky old Manbag. :)
