Fashion and The NeverEnding Story
The wonderful thing about going to fashion events is that not only does everyone in the show look good, but for the most part, most of the attendees are styled up, too.
This is Leslie. I literally gasped when I saw her necklace. Let's go in for a closer look, shall we?
She said it was a gift from a friend. Whoa. What an awesome friend! It totally looks like something Judy would have at Atlantis Home.
This is Penny, a local DJ, and her dog Abby (who happened to be turning three that day!). She told me that her dress was a thrifted monstrosity that she hacked the bottom and sleeves off of to make it into the fabulous frock it is today. Color me impressed!
Saturday's Treasure City Thrift Recycled Fashion Show was outdoors. You would think that after living here for three years I'd be used to the weather by now, but nope. The heat that goes and goes and goes and goes well into the evening always surprises me. I was roasting and wished I had worn a sleeveless dress and sandals, instead.
I wear these year round. These are my favorite boots and my most dear Buffalo Exchange find, ever.
boots: thrifted Minnetonka via Buffalo Exchange
sunnies: Buffalo Exchange (new merch)
bag: second hand Gucci (thanks, mom!)
furry tail (on purse): bought from a homeless artist
I didn't even consider that by wearing this necklace on my head that I was channeling The Childlike Empress from The NeverEnding Story. I didn't even consider this until Hubs (while looking superciliously at my necklace/ headband) asked: "Can you summon Falkor with that thing?"
I totally would've been a jerk to him if I didn't think it was so funny! Lesson learned. Oh, well. You win some and you lose some!
