"Welcome to The Life of a Kid"

Here is the transcript of a very special podcast (that is not on the air) I was on yesterday while driving in the car.

Caroline (7): Welcome to The Life of a Kid. I'm Caroline and...
Lucy (5): I'm Lucy...
Caroline: And this is our podcast about the life of a kid. First question- Would you rather hug a yellow jacket or a wasp?
Lucy: Is it a baby?
Caroline: It is a baby.
Lucy: Which is badder?
Caroline: Badder isn't a word unless you mean cake batter.
Lucy: Then a yellow jacket.
Caroline: My next question is what is something you like that people would think you don't like?
Lucy: Well... hmm... I like giraffes.
Caroline: I like race car drivers. I really like race car drivers. I also like the colors blue and green.
Lucy: What is something that is easy and something that is hard and something that is medium that you have to do?
Caroline: Something easy for me is cutting paper. I really like cutting paper. I like at school when we have a worksheet that we have to cut something out and then glue it. Something hard to do is finding something small in my room like my reader that I lost again and something medium... is homework.
Lucy: Something easy to me is coloring. Something hard is EATING MUSHROOMS. I DO NOT LIKE MUSHROOMS. And something else hard is CLEANING my room!
Caroline: And now we will ask our guest a question.
Lucy: What is something that is easy and something that is hard and something that is medium that you have to do?
Me (driving): Oh! Me?
Lucy: This is our guest Mommy!
Me: Oh, hi. Thank you for having me on the Life of a Kid. You want to know something easy, hard and medium that I have to do? Do you mean when I was a kid or now?
Caroline: Good question but we have to take a break for today's sponsor.
Today's sponsor is Right Now Media. I really like it. It's on the tv. There's funny shows and we’re allowed to watch those. Okay. Now you can answer the question.
Me: Okay-- something hard for me is—
Lucy: — not yelling at us when you get mad?
Me: [uproarously laughing] Yes. That's hard, but I think my answer is it's hard for me to have patience and to keep my cool when I've asked my kids to do something and they ignore me. It hurts my feelings and it makes me feel frustrated so I have to work really hard at not yelling.
Caroline: What's something easy for you?
Me: Loving my kids. Even when they’ve lost their reader again or their room looks like a tornado went through it, I'm never going to stop loving them. Loving them is easy even when I’m frustrated.
Lucy: What's something medium?
Me: That is such a good question. I think… cooking.
Caroline: That's the end of The Life of a Kid. We will be back next Tuesday with another episode and we'll talk about animals. Like... Lucy, what would you rather have? A chicken or a panda?
Lucy: A chicken because I think it would be really hard to take care of a bear.
Caroline: We will talk about that next week. Okay! Bye-bye!
Lucy: Bye!
